Submit your short film

Why submit to Sunderland Shorts?

Submissions for Sunderland Shorts 2016 are now open, but you might be wondering why you should submit your film?

If you've ever wanted the chance to have your short film screened in the North East for an eager and passionate audience, with the potential to be screened in Washington DC, this is it.

Our review and programming teams will select films to deliver to a North East audience across a number of screenings at various venues in the heart of Sunderland, giving you the chance to be part of a different, vibrant film festival.

The DC Selection

Thanks to our unique relationship, a selection of films from Sunderland Shorts will be shown at the 2016 edition of DC Shorts - a prestigious international film festival, which is one of the largest short film festivals in the USA. Films will be selected by DC Shorts' Festival Director Jon Gann, who'll be joining us for the duration of the festival.

In addition to The DC Selection, we'll also be presenting Jury Selection and Audience Selection awards, along with other Best in Category awards which we'll announce closer to the Festival.
